About the Blood Type Diet

Have you ever ate a plate full of vegetables and thought you were doing a good thing but later felt yucky and didn't know why?  Did you know that not all fruits and vegetables are good for everyone?  Maybe if you are an A blood type like me you notice that you have a problem with dairy products or certain meats, or the roast and potatoes you had on Sunday afternoon make you feel tired and yucky all afternoon.  That is right.  A blood types are better off as vegetarians! Several studies have shown that A blood types have a shorter life span than the others because their blood is the thickest.  When we eat certain foods such as meat (there are some exceptions like chicken) it causes our blood to get thicker and stickier causing the heart to pump harder and faster which can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure and many other deadly diseases.  This is why this diet is so important to me.  I want to live a long life and be healthy for my family and friends. Sometimes I do have a meat and potatoes meal or an ice cream at a birthday party, but I can guarantee you that I will have side effects for hours and sometimes into the following day because of my choices.

Maybe your blood type is an O.  You can eat meat and not have any problems at all.  In fact, O blood types actually have the thinnest blood and the strongest immune system.  Several studies have shown that the O blood types have the longest life span.

B blood types can eat red meats in moderation without having to worry about heart disease; however, they should avoid chicken and pork.  The B blood types average the second longest life span after the O's.

AB blood types have many of the same eating guidelines as the A blood type.  This is the newest and rarest blood type.  This blood type has a very friendly immune system and has a high risk for most diseases.

If you do not know what your blood type is, it is very simple to find out.  You can contact your physician or the hospital you were born at to see if they may have it on file.  If they do not have it, you can check it yourself.  I checked my husbands for him by simply ordering a blood type testing kit. This kit can be found very affordable online.  It is a very simple process and only takes a matter of minutes.  After you find out what your type is, there are several different books that are recommended foods for your type.  Each blood type has a list of beneficial foods, neutral foods and avoid foods.  Although I do not go overboard with this diet, I do try to eat the foods that are beneficial to me and I simply stay away from the foods that I should avoid.  I also love the supplements that can be purchased from D'Adamo Personalized Nutrition.  The multivitamins and supplements that they offer reflect the individual concerns and needs for each specific blood type.  I hope that if you are reading this blog you will try this lifestyle out for yourself.  Just give it a try and you may find yourself feeling better than ever and maybe even losing a little weight!
